Now the Storage Tank Construction and Inspection for Vertical Cylindrical Steel Welded Tanks, GBJ128-90, has been approved as National Standard, and is implemented on March 1st, 1991. Ministry of Energy takes the charge of this standard. The Engineering and Technological Research Institute of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) is responsible for its interpretation. The Standard Ration Institute of the Construction Ministry is responsible for the organization of its publication and issuance. Ministry of Construction On May 18, 1990 Storage Tank Construction and Inspection for Vertical Cylindrical Steel Welded Tanks 3 Description of the Compilation This standard is jointly compiled by Original Ministry of Petroleum Industry together with the related departments according to the requirements from the Document [1985] No.1 issued by the Summarization Department of the State Planning Commission. During the compilation of this standard, the Standard Compilation Group carried out comprehensive investigations, summed up the practices of Oil Tank construction over a long period of time, made reference to the relevant international standards and overseas advanced standards, carried on scientific research and examination and verification for the major technique issues, and held counsel extensively with the relevant departments all over the country. Eventually, this standard was examined and finalized by this ministry jointly with other related departments. Since it is the first time to compile this standard, we hope that during the implementation of this standard, the entities will, with reference to their engineering practices and scientific research, carefully sum up their experiences and accumulate feedback information.
