This British Standard is the English language version of EN 12185: 1999
The UK participation in its preparation was entrusted to Technical Committee
CH/40, Sanitary chairs and wheelchairs, which has the responsibillity to
aid enquirers to understand the text
present to the responsible European committee any enquiries on the
interpretation, or proposals for change, and keep the UK interests informed
monitor related intermational and European developments and promulgate
them in the UK.
A list of organizations represented on this committee can be obtained on request to
Secretary.
The UK submitted a negative vote on the text of EN 12183 mainly because it had
taken so long in the drafting/voting stages. Due to the timescale it was felt that it
required a review of the content, particularly against its many references to the
1SO 7176 series, to bring it up to date before issue
