Classical V belts for power transmission
1 Scope This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the seamless circular V-belts
Hereafter referred to as the V-belts)for power transmission in general. However, the
V-belts for motor vehicles and for domestic sewing machines and narrow width V-belts
are excluded
Note The normative references for this Standard are as follows
DIS B 1854 Grooved pulleys for classica/ v-belts
JIS Z 8401 Rules for rounding off numerical values
2 Types The types of the V-belts shall be classified into following 6 types according to
the sectional dimensions given in Fig. 1

8 Quallities
3.1 Appearance In appearance, the V-belts shall have the bilaterally symmetrical
trapezoidal section, and shall be those which are free from distortions, flaws and other
njurious defects in us
3.2 Performances The performances of the V-belts, when tested in accordance with
7.2 and 7.8, shall conform to the following respective items
(1)The tensile strength and elongation of the V-belt per one piece shall be as given in
Table 1

Note The elongation shall be that at the time under the load given in Table 4 of
7.2
(2)Number of times of flexure and rate of change in distance between shafts of pulleys
in the flexural fatigue test of the V-belt shall be as given in Table 2
Furthermore, the flexural fatigue test applies to the types A and B
