美国交通部 (US Department of Transportation,简称DOT) ,成立于1967年,总部位于华盛顿,下设联邦公路管理局(FHWA)、联邦航空管理局(FAA)、联邦机动车安全管理局(FMCSA), 海运管理局(MARAD)、全国公路交通安全管理局(NHTSA), 总检察官办公室(OST)等部门。在全美拥有 6 万名雇员。它的职责是发展和完善与交通与运输相关的法规, 对进入美国的各种交通工具和运输的危险物品做出一系列规定 , 颁发证书等。致力于维护交通安全, 促进经济发展, 以满足环境和国防的需求。
