Itis notnecessarytocompileminorconnectorroutesorshort streets .Insignificantalignmentchangesarenotcompiled.The roadclassificationofexistingroads,on thepreviousedition, shallberetainedunlesstheyhavedefinitelychangedorthere is aninconsistencyin theroadclassificationbetweenmatching- sheets.Ifitis doubtfulthattheroadclassificationhas changed,retaintheoriginalclassification.Roadsunder constructionshallbeappropriatelylabeled. 5.2.1.1Three classificationsofroadsshallbecompiled:Allweather,hard surface;allweather,loosesurface;andfair/dryweatherroads, tracks,andstreets.Allweatherhardsurfaceandallweather loosesurfaceroadsincludeallsuchroadsregardlessofthe numberoflanes.If a roadis morethantwolaneswide,addthe appropriatelabeling.Dividedhighwaysarecompiledasall weatherhardsurfaceroadswiththelabel“DIVIDED”andthe numberoflanesadded.Nodistinctionis madeamongfair/dry weatherroads,tracks,andstreets.Donotattempttochange roads,onthepreviousedition,amongtheseclassifications. Deleteallroadswhichnolongerexist.Trailsandfootpaths arenotaddedbutthoseonthepreviouseditionmaybeupgraded, if warranted.Trailandfootpathsymbolsontheprevious editionneednotbedeletedunlesstheyareupgradedorconflict withotheraddedorrevisedfeatures. 6 Source: http:/ - Downloaded: 2007-03-29T03:16Z Check the source to verify that this is the current version before use. MIL-STD-600011 5.2.1.2 (CitvFour classificationsofroadsshallbecompiled: Dividedhighwayor boulevard,primaryroadorthroughstreet,secondaryroador street,andtrackortrail.Allnewdividedhighways, boulevards,primaryroadsandthroughstreetsshallbecompiled. Arepresentativepatternof, newsecondaryroadsandstreets shallbeadded,withanemphasisonstreetsconnectingmajor routesandthoseforwhichstreetnameshavebeenprovided. Drivesin parksandnarrowstreetsshallbeincludedin this classification.Avoidcompilingnumerousparallelstreets, shortdeadendstreetslandstreetsinareaswitha dense existingstreetpattern.Onlythemostprominenttracksor trailsshallbecompiledinareasdevoidofotherroads. Delete allroadsthatnolongerexist.Add,change,ordeletestreet names,asneeded,fromthesourcematerialsprovided. 5.2.2Rd.kmb Compileonlysignificantnewrailroads (includingnarrowgaugerailroadsandcarlines) . Itisnot necessarytocompileminorfeederlines? spurs,sidings,or smallrailroadyards.Portrayrailroadsusingthesymbolsfrom theappropriatespecifications.Generallythegaugeofa new railroadis thesameastheexistingrailroadtowhichit connects,unlessotherwisespecified.Whenin doubtastothe gaugeofa newrailroad,notconnectingtoanexistingrailroad, portrayit asa normalgaugerailroad.
